Burglaries and other mishaps involving the loss of important possessions are very harrowing experiences. At times like these you need:
A recent industry survey has revealed that 95% of South Africans find themselves under-insured in the event of a claim under their household contents insurance. The danger of being under insured lies in the fact that an insurance principle called "average" can be applied at the time of the claim, resulting in a considerably smaller amount being received by the policyholder than the value of the loss. Here is an example of average: Mr Policyholder was insured for R200 000. He had a loss and submitted a claim totalling R70 000. An insurance assessor valued his household contents at R300 000 (he only insured 66.6% of his contents). Instead of paying R70 000, the insurance company had the right to apply average and only pay 66.6% of the claim… an amount of R46 666. Mr Policyholder could only replace two thirds of the possessions he lost with the amount he received from the claim. Is there an easy way to be correctly insured? Inventory & risk surveyors have experience in providing clients with detailed household content inventories. With their proven methods they provide peace of mind by supplying an impartial, reasonable estimate of the replacement cost of household contents. Who carries out the surveys? The survey is performed by fully trained agents, recruited on recommendation and trained extensively. The time taken to complete a survey will be between 1 ˝ to 3 hours, depending on the household content. How is the survey carried out? Having decided that you want a survey done, all you need to do is contact Perfect Delivery and we will put you in touch with an approved surveyor. Their agent will then make an appointment at a time convenient to you. Please note that surveys are only done with the owners present. The agent will accompany you throughout your home and note the contents. Where necessary, agreed prices are established and others will be obtained by processing through their database. As these agents are not sworn appraisers, their valuations are confined to household goods. However, no item is ignored. The value they place on works of art, valuable antiques or paintings and Persian rugs is one that their agent agrees with you. Should you be unable to assist with the value, a limited amount of research will be done to establish an agreeable price. Once the survey is complete, the processing takes place at their offices and the end result is sent to Perfect Delivery, with a copy for you. As a further benefit to you, the inventory & risk agent will carry out an assessment of the security of your home. In most cases certain minimum security measures are required by the insurance company and this survey will ensure that you conform to them. In cases where your security measures exceed these requirements , you might qualify for a discount. What are the advantages of an inventory and risk survey?
